UTARC @ RACK Meeting

Info from Don Riley on Thursday's meeting....

The RACK meeting on Thursday 17Jul08, 7 pm at the Wallace Memorial Baptist Church on Merchants Road will feature the story of the UT Amateur Radio Club's
(UTARC) balloon flights, how the flights were tracked with modern radio techniques and the work by the UT college students that went into the preparation of the design, procurement, construction, and planning for the appropriate atmospheric conditions for their successful balloon flights. One flight almost reached the British Isles.

No college course could exceed the mental knowledge gained and the understanding obtained by these students as they went through pursuing these balloon flights. Dan Bowen will tell us the inside story of all phases of their record setting and student involvement activities.

Dan's presentation will provide RACK members with an understanding of the technical depth incorporated in these flights and the resulting student development obtained through participation.
